Updates on our progress

  • Major Catastrophe Grant award – LCIF quickly awarded a US$200,000 grant to the Lions in Turkey to begin providing immediate relief to the victims of one of the largest earthquakes to hit the region in 100 years. As new relief needs emerge, additional grants may be awarded. Through LCIF’s collaboration with MD 111 and the German Lions Foundation, we are exploring ways to provide earthquake relief in Syria.
  • Contact us – Please contact LCIF at EuropeGlobalGrants@lionsclubs.org for more information on LCIF's response.
  • Disaster Relief Fund* – LCIF is actively collecting donations to its Disaster Relief Fund, which will help ensure Lions are not only there to help communities impacted by this disaster but will also enable Lions to serve people around the globe impacted by disasters yet to come.

*Donations received will be considered funds for the country indicated by the donor when specifically requested, and LCIF will only designate them to another disaster when the local Lions Disaster Relief Committee determines there is no further need in that country.

Putting kindness in action

Lions of MD 118

Lions used grant funds to provide prefab containers for a Lions Village for survivors. Ten containers will house two families each. Other containers will be used for kitchens, lavatories and showers, laundry, and a bakery.

Lions in Sweden

Swedish Lions delivered 300 tents to provide temporary housing for people displaced by the earthquake.

Lions in Turkey

As the unimaginable devastation unfolded, Lions in Turkey quickly took action, providing food for survivors in the days immediately following the earthquake.
