Members of the Hassan Lions Club stand together at their Lions Centre, demonstrating teamwork and commitment to their service mission.

The mission:
MISSION 1.5 is the drive to grow worldwide, so we can better meet the growing needs of our communities and serve more people than ever before.

Challenge accepted by:
Hassan Lions Club, Karnataka, India

Summary:
The club is the second largest in District 317D with 141 members ranging in age from 26 to 84. Since its charter in 1976, the club has sponsored 11 new clubs.

About the club:
In celebration of its golden jubilee, the club set an ambitious goal: induct 50 new members during its installation ceremony. They not only met the goal but also added 25 Melvin Jones Fellows — an impressive accomplishment representing their deep commitment to service.

President H. Ramesh led the way, inviting his former engineering colleagues to become Lions and join the mission. Together, they went door to door, sharing stories of how Lions have transformed their community. Those personal connections helped fuel a surge in membership and the club continues to actively welcome new members.

The club looks for people who care about serving others and building friendships. Members know that when more people join, more good gets done.

Among the club’s proudest accomplishments is the Mission Hospital Dialysis Center along with four dialysis units, which provide vital care to the community. This service is undertaken with four other local Lions clubs and with financial assistance from District 317D. The treatments require only nominal charges from patients, and they are treating an average of 80 to 90 dialysis cases a month.

Beyond service, the club values camaraderie. Members gather monthly for tours, picnics and lively meetings with tail twisters who keep spirits high. Through service and fellowship, the Hassan Lions Club continues to make a meaningful difference — and have fun doing it.

Hassan Lions Club members gather for a large group photo, celebrating unity, growth and their commitment to community service.

The Club’s Five Tips for Growth

  5. Build a friendly club culture.
