LCIF: Celebrating 30 years of SightFirst!
Work in vision has been an integral part of Lions' history since the founding in 1917. The LCIF SightFirst program, in collaboration with Lions, health care providers, and partner organizations, has led the charge in Lions’ vision efforts over the last three decades, as one of LCIF’s most impactful grant programs. So much has been accomplished over the years. So much more can be accomplished in the future with continued support.
LCIF Empowering Service: Mobile Screening Van
A mobile health vehicle in Italy provides vision screenings, thanks to LCIF. This mobile unit allows Lions to enter the community anywhere there’s a need. LCIF's mission is to strengthen eye care systems, enabling them to fight blindness and vision loss and assist those who are blind or visually impaired. SightFirst grants can help a child see the world for the first time. They can protect a village from a debilitating eye disease, or intervene before someone goes blind due to diabetic eye disease.
LCIF Empowering Service: Nepal Eye Clinic
LCIF empowers the service of Lions to improve the lives of the visually impaired and prevent avoidable blindness. Thanks to an LCIF grant, The B.P. Koirala Lions Center for Ophthalmic Studies in Kathmandu serves millions of people in Nepal. The center provides eye care services as well as education and training for ophthalmologists. LCIF proudly serves Lions’ continued efforts by offering unique and impactful initiatives, programs, and grants. Discover what SightFirst grants can do you for you.
Sight for Kids - Yodying's Story
Since 2002, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has partnered with Johnson & Johnson Vision to implement the largest-known, school-based eye health program, Sight for Kids. The program mobilizes Lions and eye care professionals to provide comprehensive eye health services in low-income schools, currently in four countries in Asia, Africa, and Europe. The program provides teachers with training to deliver eye health education, perform a visual acuity test, and screen for common eye conditions. Students identified with potential vision impairment or eye ailments are referred to healthcare providers for evaluation.
