DICK SAWYER
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Dick Sawyer, from Overgaard, Arizona, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 92nd International Convention, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, July 6-10, 2009.
Director Sawyer works as an educator.
A member of the Overgaard Ponderosa Lions Club since 1996, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair, cabinet secretary, district governor, multiple district retention chair and multiple district MERL chair. He has also served as a presenter at the USA/Canada Forum and as the Melvin Jones Lions International Memorial Director and Treasurer.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including a Lion of the Year Award, Proud Lion Award, Proud Sponsor Award, two 100% Secretary Awards, two Club President Excellence Awards, a District Governor Certificate of Appreciation, a Senior Builder Key Award and two International President Certificates of Appreciation. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Sawyer is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He also is a recipient of the Arizona Agriculture Teacher of the Year Award.
Director Sawyer and his wife, Fay, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have one son, one daughter and two grandchildren.
