Pakistan in general and some poor districts with low literacy rate, low health awareness, high population density and inadequate service provision, face several health problems with specific prevelance among the deprived and unreached. Infectious diseases among children; like measles, ARI, diarrhea and some other vaccine preventable diseases; are the main causes of deaths among the children under-five. Similarly a number of congenital defects like cataract and cleft pallet/lip need special attention.

TheMardan Lions Club has decided to arrange an eye camp during the coming fortnight in which some ophthalmologists will carry out screening among the children and people with senile Mature cataract (SMC). This will be followed by a session of operation on those screened for surgery. about 500 pairs of spectacles with various categories of lenses will be distributed among the needy.

The Mardan Lions Club under the leader ship of Mr. Muzamil Shah (Chaiman) and Mr. Minhaj (Secretary) and Dr. Ayub Rose, (Technical Advisor) is also intended to take part in the Measles campaign during April.
