ROBERT G. SMITH
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Robert G. Smith, from Sacramento, California, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 93rd International Convention, held in Sydney, Australia, June 28 to July 2, 2010.
Director Smith is a retired law enforcement official.
A member of the Sacramento Embarcadero Lions Club, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, vice district governor, district governor, council chair, cabinet secretary, cabinet treasurer, multiple district leadership chair and membership chair. He also served as a member of the District 4-C5 convention committee and the international convention nomination and sergeant of arms committees.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including Club Lion of the Year, three District Governor Appreciation Awards, the Multiple District 4 Excellence Award, the Multiple District 4 Kay and Denise Fukushima Couple of the Year Award, four International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, an International President’s Leadership Award and an International President’s Medal. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Smith is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Police in Sacramento County, California. He also served in the California Peace Officer Association and the California Narcotic Peace Officers Association and he received three Unit Citations from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
Director Smith and his wife, Vickie, also a Lion and a Melvin Jones Fellow, have one daughter.
