HORST KIRCHGATTERER
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Horst Kirchgatterer, from Wels/Thalheim, Austria, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 92nd International Convention, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, July 6-10, 2009.
Director Kirchgatterer is a retired bank manager, and currently works as a consultant.
A member of the Wels Pollheim Lions Club since 1974, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, district governor and council chair. He is also a leader of the Global Membership Team.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including a Governors Appreciation Award, two Presidential Awards and a Founder’s Membership Growth Award. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Kirchgatterer is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently president of the Upper Austrian Bridge Federation and of the HSV Bridge Club, as well as a layman judge at the State Court in Wels. He has also received a Medal of Merit from the State of Upper Austria, Medal of Merit from the town of Wels and the Humanitarian Award from the Town of Wels.
Director Kirchgatterer and his wife, Brigitte, have two sons, one daughter and eight grandchildren.
