Host Lions clubs can recruit host families from within the Lions club, or non-Lions in the community. It may be helpful to write a press release about the program requesting families who are interested to contact with the host Lions club.
Since it is recommended that host families are in contact with children in the same age group as the participants, Lions clubs may consider contacting the local schools and universities, especially the foreign language or international studies departments with information about the program. Places of worship may also a good place for providing information.
A district/multiple district or club calendar of events published on the Web, in local newspapers, etc is another tool to use when looking for host families.
Be sure once a host family has been selected that they receive orientation about the program, full information on itinerary details for the stay and a thank you letter from the host club, participant, etc.
More information for host families and host clubs can be found in the Youth Camp and Exchange Program Guide.
