Past International
President William
L. Woolard, of Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, was elected
president of The International Association of Lions
Clubs at the association's 72nd annual convention, held
in Miami/Miami Beach, Florida, USA, June 21-24, 1989.
Past President Woolard
is a lawyer and corporation president.
A Lion since 1963, Past
President Woolard is a Life Member of the Charlotte
Central Lions Club. He served a two-year term on the
International Board of Directors from 1981-83, and a
one-year term as a board appointee in 1984-85. Past
President Woolard has held a number of other association
offices including terms as a 100% district governor
and council chairman.
Among the awards Past
President Woolard has received for his service are two
Extension Awards, five District Governor Extension Awards,
a Master Key, eleven International President's Awards
and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the association's
highest honor given by the association to its members.
He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Involved in a variety
of other civic and community organizations, Past President
Woolard has served on the board of directors of both
the North Carolina association for the Blind and the
North Carolina Eye and Human Tissue Bank. He is active
in a number of organizations and committees of the legal
profession.
Past President Woolard
and his wife, Virginia, have two children.
