Donald E. Banker

Donald E. Banker, of Rolling Hills, California, USA, was elected the 75th president of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association's 74th annual convention, held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, June 18-21, 1991.

As president he served as chairperson of the Lions Clubs International board of directors and as official ambassador, visiting Lion's community projects in 52 countries and geographic locations where he met privately with government and religious leaders, including Pope John Paul II and President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush.

He served on the International Long-Range Planning Committee for three years and as its chairperson for one year. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Lions Clubs International Foundation for four years and as its chairperson in 1992-93. Past President Banker was a member of the Sightfirst Advisory Committee for two years and was chairperson in 1992-1993. He was re-appointed to that committee for the 1994-1995 year. He was re-appointed to the International Board of Directors by President Coffey for the year 1993-1994, where he served on the Finance & Headquarters Committee.

For his many contributions to the association, Past President Banker has received a Key Member Award, 12 International President's Awards and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted by the association to its members. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Still active in his community through his Lions club, Past President Banker has been twice honored with Resolutions of Commendation from the combined legislatures of the California State Senate and Assembly.

He is a charter life member of the West Torrance Lions Club in Torrance, California, where he has 35 years perfect attendance.

Past President Banker and his wife, Diane, have three sons.
