INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Narendra Bhandari, from Pune, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 93rd International Convention, held in Sydney, Australia, June 28 to July 2, 2010.

Director Bhandari works in building materials, real estate, corporate training and event management.

A member of the Lions Club of Poona Kirkee since 1980, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chair, vice district governor, district governor, district cabinet secretary, region chair, district bulletin editor and district activities chair. He also served as faculty at DGE schools, Senior Leadership Institutes and area Forums.

In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including the 100% President Award, seven District Governor Appreciation Awards, ISAAME Youth Exchange Activity Award, five International President’s Leadership Awards and five International President’s Medals. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to his Lions activities, Director Bhandari is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Poona Hospital and Research Center, the Royal Connaught Boat Club, the Camp Education Society and the Punjabi Cultural Association. He has also served as president of the Poona Iron and Steel Merchants Association and vice president of the Rajiv Gandhi Social, Cultural and Sports Foundation.

Director Bhandari and his wife, Ranjana, also a Lion, have two sons, one daughter and three grandchildren.
