KPA HAROON
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
KPA Haroon, from Cochin, India, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 92nd International Convention, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, July 6-10, 2009.
Director Haroon works as a trader in the glassware industry.
A member of the Cochin South Lions Club since 1974, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, zone chair, membership chair, district cabinet secretary, district governor, council chair, multiple district LCIF chair and multiple district constitution and bylaws chair, He has also served as a seminar faculty member, group leader for the All India DG elect School, an International Mission 30K team leader and a member of the International Convention Credential Committee.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including Best Club President Award, Best Zone Chairman Award, Best Region Chairman Award, Best District Chairman Award, Outstanding Lion Award, Lion of the Year Award, 15 International President Certificates of Appreciation, five International President Leadership Medals, six International President Medals, Best Global Membership Award, Mission 30K Team Award and the Ambassador of Goodwill Award, the highest award the association grants to its members. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Haroon is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He has received the Best Management Consultant Award and the Best Social Worker Award from the Government of Kerala, India.
Director Haroon and his wife Zahida, a member of the Lioness Club of Cochin South, have two daughters and five grandchildren.
