LCIF Approves US$3.2 Million in Grants at June 2008 Board Meeting
Oak Brook, Illinois, USA--Nearly US$3.2 million in grants was approved at the June 2008 LCIF Board Meeting. A total of 47 grants were awarded to Lions clubs all over the world to assist many humanitarian projects.
This includes 11 Core 4 grants to construct homes with Habitat for Humanity, expand low vision and diabetes programs and a US$200,000 to Lions of Sweden for an LCIF-Sweden tent project to provide tent housing to relief workers and victims left homeless from the earthquake in China.
LCIF also approved two major catastrophe grants: US$50,000 for flooding relief in Iowa, USA and US$500,000 for relief in China. This is in addition to the US$500,000 initial major catastrophe grant awarded for China relief in May.
