UNICEF School-in-a-Box Program

Ensuring Education Continues After an Emergency or Natural Disaster

UNICEF and UNESCO School-in-a-Box kits ensure the continuation of children's education in the first 72 hours of an emergency. Each kit contains essential classroom supplies for a teacher and up to 40 students. Teachers can also use the inside cover of the box as a chalkboard.

How Lions Support the School-in-a-Box Program

Lions Clubs International has supported the School-in-a-Box program since 1996. Today, Lions continue to support the distribution of UNICEF School-in-a-Box kits to children affected by emergencies and natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes – including Katrina.

How You Can Help the School-in-a-Box Program

Each UNICEF School-in-a-Box costs approximately US$257. If you want to support this program, please contact our Health and Children's Services Department or send donations to: Lions Clubs International Foundation, 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, Illinois 60523-8842, USA.
