LCIF Assistance for Philippines Typhoon Relief

LCIF is working with local Lions to respond to Typhoon Ketsana, the devastating typhoon that ravaged the Philippines. As of October 11, more than 337 people were dead and an additional 37 people were still missing, according to the nation's National Disaster Coordinating Council. More than 4 million people were affected by the killer storm and nearly 1 million people have been served at an evacuation center. LCIF has awarded five emergency grants in the amount of $10,000 each to Districts 301-A1, 301-A2, 301-C, 301-D1 and 301-D2 to purchase immediate relief supplies.  Lions in District 301-D2 are providing medical attention to victims to help prevent disease and death. Nearly 65 families in the flooded area of the Philippines have already been treated with vaccines, medicine and first aid through their efforts.
