Getting Around Town
Getting Around Hamburg
The Hamburg Public Transport Association (Hamburger Verkehrsverbund/HVV) provides attractive and modern local transport services at reasonable prices. It was the first of its kind in the world when it was founded in 1965 and has been getting people where they want to go in and around Hamburg ever since. The connections are perfectly organised, with the network covering over 30 affiliated transport companies. Tickets are valid on all HVV services, whether you travel by bus, train or harbour ferry. Good to know: Enjoy a trip with one of the 5 HVV ferry services in the Port of Hamburg and along the River Elbe. Your HVV ticket is valid here, too.
In the Greater Hamburg Area, underground and rapid transit services and most Metro buses run every 5 or 10 minutes up to about 11 pm on weekdays. In the nights from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday and before a public holiday, underground and rapid transport services in Hamburg and Norderstedt keep running every 20 minutes through the night. Moreover, there is a network of night buses.
It’s easy to get around with one of the HVV day tickets. Whether you want to travel for 1 or 3 days, on your own or with your family and friends – it’s all up to you! You can buy your tickets from the bus driver or a ticket machine. You will find ticket machines at all rapid transit stations and some bus stops. HVV tickets do not need to be stamped and cancelled before commencing your journey.
The convention takes place at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) Exhibition Halls (S11/S21/S31 Dammtor, U1 Stephansplatz, U2 Messehallen).
Please check your route on hvv.de/en. You can dial up timetable information on your iPhone, smartphone or other similar mobile devices, too – just enter m.hvv.de. HVV timetable info is also available free of charge as an App for iPhone and Android.
All public buses in Hamburg are low-floor buses for an easy access of person with restricted mobility.
Many of the stations in our rapid transit network are also accessible via lift or ramp. You can get further information on www.hvv.de/en/all-you-need-to-know/mobility-impaired-passengers/"
