Staff from LCIF recently went to Haiti to see relief efforts, including three Lions tent cities that are housing thousands of people. And Lions providing kitchens and clinics for tent city residents. 2010 Lions Clubs International Convention Reminders

Activist from Kenya Wins 2010 Lions Humanitarian Award

2010 Lions Humanitarian Award WinnerWe’re pleased to announce that Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai will receive this year’s Lions Humanitarian Award. She is an activist from Kenya and the founder of the Green Belt Movement. The Green Belt Movement is a broad based grassroots organization that works to reduce poverty and protect the environment. Her efforts have resulted in women planting 40 million trees since 1977. Maathai will accept the Award during the Thursday morning plenary session of our Convention in Sydney.
