A recent tornado outbreak in the U.S. killed at least 280 people, left thousands homeless and caused millions of dollars in damage. As always, our members are bringing aid to the people affected by this disaster. LCIF is mobilizing US$250,000 to fund Lions’ relief efforts in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. LCIF also awarded US$160,000 in emergency grants to affected districts. Local Lions will use these funds to provide immediate relief supplies, including food and water. Read blog post.

In July, more than 15,000 of our members will attend our 94th International Convention in Seattle. Even if you can’t join us for this year’s event, you can get the latest updates from Seattle on our Online Convention site. The Lions Clubs International Public Relations team will be on the scene in Seattle. And they’ll be posting daily updates – including a scrapbook of highlights, photos, contest results and more – to our Online Convention site.
During our international convention, you’ll have a chance to see Going Blind – a compelling documentary that inspires viewers to preserve, prolong and maximize the precious gift of sight. This popular film features inspiring individuals of all ages sharing their stories about sight loss due to glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, infection and accidents. We will host two showings of Going Blind on July 5 and July 7. Both showings will take place from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in Room 2AB of the Washington State Convention Center. Learn more about this inspiring film.
