Girl from U.S. Wins Lions International Essay Contest
We’re pleased to announce that Amy Elizabeth Bosko, a 12-year-old girl from Lisle, Illinois, wrote the grand prize winning essay in the 2011 Lions International Essay Contest. Judges chose her essay for its artistic merit and portrayal of the theme, “Power of Peace.” As the grand prize winner, Amy receives an award and a check for US$5,000. Her sponsor, the Villa Park Lions Club, recently presented the prize to Amy. Read blog.
Lions, LCIF Mobilize US$15 Million to Help Japan
Lions around the world are continuing to help the Lions of Japan in their disaster relief efforts by donating generously to LCIF. As a result, we're mobilizing more than US$15 million, which includes US$8 million that Lions of Japan are raising. LCIF has approved an initial US$1.5 million grant to provide a special assistance fund for victims and to support Lions’ operation centers. The remaining donations will assist with ongoing disaster relief and long-term rebuilding efforts. Read updates from Lions in Japan.
