Protecting Our Environment with Family and Friends

photo of club performing environmental projectThis April, join Lions around the world and protect the environment. Planning an environmental project is a great opportunity to invite your family and friends to engage in hands-on service. Organize a community clean-up, plant a tree, or plan a recycling project to collect old eyeglasses, batteries or small electronics -- you decide based on the needs in your community.

Use the following resources to plan and promote your Protecting our Environment Global Service Action Campaign project:

May is Lions Recycle for Sight Month

Photo of eyeglass recycling boxNext month, Lions clubs around the world are encouraged to engage their communities through eyeglass collection projects. Getting involved is easy! Educate your community about the Recycle for Sight program by showing the 10-minute film, "New Glasses, New Life." Establish new collection locations at schools, places of worship, businesses, etc. Check your existing locations to make sure your collection containers are fresh, attractive and emptied on a regular basis.

Visit the Recycle For Sight page for more information or to order supplies to begin or enhance your collection campaign. And don’t forget to promote the need for usable reading glasses and sunglasses, as well.
