The relationship between Lions Clubs International and Scouts dates back to the early 1900s. Since that time, our collaboration has provided benefits to both organizations and the communities being served. Young people, such as Scouts, need the guidance of adult role models, such as Lions. When a Lions club charters a Scouts unit, Lions serve as mentors and help youth achieve their full potential. As of December 31, 2012, U.S. Lions sponsored 2,271 Boy Scout units which included 64,563 Scouts.
Eagle Scout Certificate
The Lions Clubs International Eagle Scout Certificate is available for presentation to young men who have attained the highest U.S. Boy Scout rank – Eagle Scout.
Scout leaders may contact their local Lions club to request the certificate. After verifying that the young man is indeed an Eagle Scout, Lions may request the Eagle Scout Certificate from the Youth Programs Department at Lions Clubs International. The certificate and a letter from international headquarters are sent to the Lions club for formal presentation to the Eagle Scout.
Beginning April 1, 2014, the Eagle Scout Certificate and accompanying letter will be made available for download; Lions will no longer be required to submit a request and wait for postal delivery of the certificate. This change will allow Lions to access the certificate online, enter the youth’s name, and print the award instantly. We encourage Lions to take advantage of the convenience and ease of the downloadable certificates after April 1. Once the award is made available online, the printed Eagle Scout Certificate will be discontinued.
