Held on the second Thursday in October*, World Sight Day provides you with additional opportunities to join in sight-related humanitarian service.
International White Cane Safety Day: October 15
Worldwide, many people who are blind or visually impaired enjoy safe and independent navigation when they use the white cane. White Cane Safety Day is an opportunity for you to help increase awareness of this "symbol of independence" – and the laws governing its use. Collaborate with local schools and organizations for the blind, to organize an event or service project.
Lions Eye Bank Week: December
The first full week in December has been designated as Lions Eye Bank Week. This is an opportunity for you to learn about the wonderful sight-saving service an eye bank provides, as well as to provide support to your eye bank.
Recycle for Sight Month: May
Use Recycle for Sight resources to organize your eyeglass collection campaign during the month of May.
Helen Keller Day: June 1
Lions worldwide implement sight-saving service projects on this day during the month when Helen Keller was born.
