American Optometric Association Agreement

Benefits of the American Optometric Association Agreement

This partnership provides the following benefits:

• As part of this agreement, AOA members will be available to assist local Lions clubs in vision screenings, health fairs and community awareness programs.

• Lions clubs will be able to utilize the expertise and manpower of local AOA members in the Lions Eye Health Program (LEHP).

• The benefits of membership in Lions Clubs International will be stressed to AOA members.  The mutual interest in eye care services provides a natural foundation for AOA members to provide their community service activities as a member of a Lions club.

• Promotion of the ongoing interaction between Lions clubs and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) missions.

• LCI will be able to promote the AOA member's offices as collection centers for used eyeglasses.  This promotes the community involvement of the AOA member and assists LCI in eyeglasses collection.

• Lions clubs can cooperate with AOA members to provide eye care to needy individuals. These services would be paid, in part, by the local Lions club.  AOA members and the local Lions club could make individual arrangements regarding any reduced fee for services and/or materials.

• LCI can promote special vision awareness weeks with AOA.
