Minnesota Lions have been collecting used eyeglasses since 1992. Endorsed by the Lions Multiple District 5M and the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation, the Minnesota Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center (Minnesota LERC) officially became a part of the Lions Clubs International Eyeglass Recycling Center program in 2011. The Minnesota LERC is operated by the Sauk Rapids Lions Club.
The Minnesota LERC is a collection center only and transports all glasses to the Wisconsin Lions Foundation Eyeglass Recycling Center to be processed. Wisconsin Lions Foundation Eyeglass Recycling Center generally furnishes eyeglasses for Lions’ missions, as well as other organizations such as Feed the Children and VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity).
