Established in 2005, The ALERT central distribution center is sponsored by the Lions of District 21-B, Arizona. Lions collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to the center. After the used eyeglasses are cleaned and sorted, the lens prescription is determined. Finally, the eyeglasses are ready for distribution for missions around the world. ALERT supports additional eyeglass collection hubs around the district where glasses are also sorted, cleaned, and prescriptions determined. The involvement of District 21-B Lions is valued, making this a true district project and also a great recruiting tool demonstrating the basics of Lionism.
