Community Disaster Preparedness Programs
Lions are encouraged to work with local authorities to assist in the event of a natural, man-made or healthcare disaster. Lions' Community Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Relief Programs include:
- The Lions ALERT Program – This program strives to provide specific direction to the 46,000 Lions clubs and help them to be more efficient in providing short and long-term support to disaster victims.
- Pandemic Influenza Preparedness – Lions Clubs help the US Department of Health and Human Services disseminate information to the community about pandemic influenza (flu) preparedness.
- Lion-2-Lion: Resource Assistance Database – The database provides requests and offers of humanitarian services and supplies.
- Partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – This partnership encourages Lions to participate in IFRC disaster preparedness training and planning.
