Guiding Lion and Certified Guiding Lion

The first two years is the most critical time for a new club. District governors are encouraged to appoint two guiding Lions, preferably Certified Guiding Lions, to:

NEW: Due to a board policy change in October 2010, a Guiding Lion is limited to serving no more than two clubs at any point in time and Certified Guiding Lions are required to retake the Certified Guiding Lion Course every three years to maintain certification.

Certified Guiding Lion Program

Guiding Lions are encouraged to complete the Certified Guiding Lion Course to receive training in new club support. The course may be taken individually or facilitated by an instructor. To take the course on your own, download the materials below and complete the Certified Guiding Lion Course Workbook.

Hosting the Course

To host and facilitate a group presentation, download the Certified Guiding Lion Host and Instructor Guide (pdf) and the Certified Guiding Lion Program Power Point Presentation (ppt). Be sure to review the workbook and course material prior to the course.

NEW: The new course format requires the participants to complete the Certified Guiding Lion Workbook prior to attending the course. Send each participant a link to this site to get started. 

Following the course, submit the Completion Verification Form (pdf) and the Test for Certified Guiding Lions (pdf), to receive a special achievement certificate.

Presidential Certified Guiding Lion Award

To receive the Certified Guiding Lion Award Medal, certified guiding Lions complete Quarterly Reports (pdf) throughout the two-year term along with fulfilling other requirements. The requirements are outlined on the Certified Guiding Lion Final Report (pdf).
