Every tree planted by a Lion is part of a large scale effort by members around the world to make a significant impact on the environment. The following are a few highlights of how Lions from around the world are making a difference by participating in the Million Tree Planting Campaign.
Five hundred Lions from Guangdong, China planted 10,000 trees to kick off International President Tam’s Tree Planting Campaign. The group partnered with the Governor of Forestry Bureau in their area to replant a forest that had been damaged during a 2008 storm. The area where the trees were planted was renamed the “Guangdong Lions Clubs Forest.”
The Lions who participated were very excited that this project will help make the planet healthier and more beautiful. When asked how this project will benefit the community, Lion Joyeuse Wong responded that “tree planting helps us advocate and raise awareness about deforestation.” View photos.
