Lions Help Promote Electronic Literacy in School
Lions in Kansas met International President Wayne Madden's challenge to increase literacy and access to learning resources in a new and innovative way. The Milford Lions Club partnered with a local school to implement electronic literacy for teachers and students. Two Nooks were purchased by the club to complete a set of 18 Nooks in total for the school. Students have shown excitement for using the new tools to read books learn new things. View photos.
Lions Promote Children's Reading Activities
The Reading Action Program has provent to be a success in the People's Republic of China. The T H Cetnral Lions Club of Tainan Hsien collected children's books and donated them to a local school. The books were given to the students to take home to practice their reading. Stories were also read to the children in the classroom on a daily basis. View photos.
Alaska Lions Provide Students with Access to Learning Tools
Lions in Alaska are striving to improve the literacy rate and access to learning tools in schoools. The Kenai Lions Club hosted a dictionary project for a local third grade classroom. Dictionaries were purchased, labeled and distributed to each student. The children were very excited to receive the books and immediately began looking up words. Within the next year, thesauruses will be distributed as well. View photos.
