District Pit Stop Checklist

Follow the checklist below to stay in the race and stay on track!

Pit Stop One (July – September)

Service (Three service projects are required to achieve the Club Excellence Award)

Encourage clubs to participate in the Lions Global Service Action Campaign: Engaging Our Youth!
Launch a Reading Action Program and inform the clubs of the Reading Action Program Awards.

Membership and Public Relations

Plan to reactivate cancelled and status quo clubs. Cancelled clubs have 12 months to be reactivated.
Assign a Guiding Lion to assist clubs in need of support.
Collaborate with GMT to identify clubs to participate in Club Excellence Process. Encourage clubs to complete “How Are Your Ratings” to identify areas for improvement.
Charter two or more clubs before October 31st to qualify for the Fast Start Award.
Implement membership recruiting efforts targeting students and Leos.

Operations

Share your district vision and goals with District Governor Team including GMT and GLT.
Schedule club visits. Improve time management by assigning some visits to vice district governors and attending multi-club meetings.
Review the Club Health Assessment Report and the DG RECAP to prioritize clubs requiring attention.
Review LCI Expense Claim Procedure.
Ensure Club Officer Orientation has been completed by GLT.
Confirm zone chairpersons have participated in Zone Chairperson Training; if not, enlist GLT.
Collaborate with GLT to identify qualified candidates for Lions Leadership Institutes and encourage them to apply.
Encourage your successor to thoughtfully complete assigned DGE training
Encourage clubs to follow the Club Pit Stop Checklist.

Pit Stop Two (October – December)

Service

Encourage clubs to participate in the Lions Global Service Action Campaign: Sharing the Vision.
Continue to encourage clubs to support a Reading Action Program and report their activities through the service activity reporting system.
Participate in World Sight Day on October 11th.
Encourage clubs to conduct the “Community Needs Assessment” as part of the Club Excellence Process (CEP).

Membership and Public Relations

Conduct October Growth Membership Campaign with the GMT.
Consider district-wide promotion of family membership opportunity.
Review results of the “How Are Your Ratings” analysis conducted by clubs. Encourage positive change.

Operations

Encourage potential leaders to participate in online Leadership Resource Center Courses.
Assess progress related to district goals. Refine action plans.
Continue to monitor the Club Health Assessment Report to track club health.

Pit Stop Three (January – March)

Service

Encourage clubs to participate in the Lions Global Service Action Campaign: Relieving the Hunger.
Recognize clubs that supported the Reading Action Award in district newsletter, communications and events.
Submit an application for the World of Service Awards, due March 1st.

Membership and Public Relations

Collaborate with GMT and GLT to encourage clubs to participate in a Club Excellence Process.
Implement membership recruiting efforts targeting women.
Encourage clubs to participate in World Wide Induction Day in April; begin planning.

Operations

Review DG RECAP report to ensure all clubs are in good standing before the convention; follow up as needed.
Host a district convention and hold elections in the next several months. Submit election results to LCI.
Provide opportunities for Lions Leadership Institute graduates to contribute to district leadership.

Pit Stop Four (April – June)

Service

Encourage clubs to participate in the Lions Global Service Action Campaign: Protecting the Environment .
Strive to have 50% or more of your clubs achieve the Reading Action Award to qualify for the district level Reading Action Award.

Membership and Public Relations

Participate in World Wide Induction Day.
Strive to end the year with a new club or a net increase in membership (a requirement for the District Governor Team Excellence Award). Review Club Health Assessment Report to monitor growth.

Operations

Review and fulfill any remaining requirements for the District Team Excellence Award.
Encourage clubs to apply for the Club Excellence Award.
Submit district convention report and complete biographies for elected officers.
Encourage incoming officers to participate in training webinars.
Plan for end of the term, “State of the District” meeting with succeeding district officers to effectively transfer leadership to the new team.
