Women's Membership Development and Participation Chairperson Women have been involved in Lions for many years as Lioness members. It wasn't until July 1987 they were invited to become full fledged Lions. Since then, the number of women in Lions has grown at a steady rate. As more women are joining Lions clubs they are also taking on leadership roles.
Role of the Women Chairperson The purpose of the Women’s Chairperson is to oversee the recruitment and participation of women within the district. Responsibilities of the Women's Chairperson are to:
- establish district goals for recruitment of women and develop action plans to attain such goals
- develop new community projects
- conduct educational seminars and provide individual instruction on recruitment of women and project development for members of the district
- develop one or more articles on recruitment of women for district, multiple district and international publications
- provide encouragement, coaching and motivation for all Lions who are directly involved in recruitment

Symposium Grant Program Starting July 1, 2007, four grants will be issued each fiscal year in each constitutional area. The symposium grant offers up to US$1,000 to help alleviate program costs. Your participation and input will assist in opening even more doors for families and women within Lionism as they seek not just to serve but to help lead our association.
Women Chairpersons may apply according to application guidelines and the Rules of Audit outlined in the Symposium Planning Guide (MP101). The guide contains complete details regarding the funding aspect of the program as well as a grant application.
