Member development is an important component to every Lions club. Member development includes both orientation and mentoring and should be the club's second step after inducting a new member.

The Lions Orientation Program  provides an introduction to the club, district and multiple district. Your Lions club can provide an orientation by:

**Selecting a speaker or speakers to lead the orientation

**Following a specific agenda or outline as to what information to present (Learn more about setting orientation agendas and presenting orientation programs.)

**Distributing the ME-13 series (ME-13B-F) for members’ use during the orientation

The Orientation Series (ME-13 B-F)

o ME-13B: Our Illustrious History- informs about the association’s beginnings and history.

o ME-13C: Purpose, Ethics and You- lists the ethics & purposes that Lions aspire to.

o ME-13D: Your Club, Your District- answers the question ”How do clubs, districts and multiple districts work together to serve others?”

o ME-13E: Your International Association- updates Lions on the resources available to them from International Headquarters.

o ME-13F: Membership Development, Extension and Leadership- emphasizes the importance of membership development, extension and leadership.

The Lions Mentoring Program is designed to further a Lion's understanding of and participation within his or her club. The program pairs new Lions (proteges) with those more experienced (mentors). There are four levels to the program, each with specific tasks to accomplish. The four levels follow:

- LEVEL ONE: Responsibility

–– LEVEL TWO:Relationships

–– LEVEL THREE: Results

–– LEVEL FOUR: Replication

Upon completion of each level, both the protege and the mentor are eligible to receive awards marking their accomplishments.
