The Lions Mission Statement is:

To Create and Foster a Spirit of Understanding Among all People for Humanitarian Needs by Providing Voluntary Services through Community Involvement and International Cooperation.                     

The district governor appoints a Lion to serve as district international relations chairperson. This Lion should be familiar with:

• Lions Policy Statement on International Relations;
• Lions Clubs International Policy Position on Peace;
• Lions Policy Statement on World Peace Day;

• Adopted Service Programs of Lions Clubs International publication (IAD 223): and PowerPoint; (Please allow a few minutes for the PowerPoint to load.)
• Lions International Relations publication (IAD 101) and PowerPoint (Please allow a few minutes for the PowerPoint to load.)
• obtain program publications in quantities.

International relations programs:

• international friendship programs;
• international assistance programs;
• LCIF grants for international projects;

International relations chairperson responsibilities

• Contact other multiple district/district chairpersons. 
• Help establish twinning relationships with clubs in other countries.
• Encourage Lions to visit other clubs when traveling to other countries.
• Handle (in consultation with the district governor) requests for international medical assistance.
• Encourage participation in Lions Day with the United Nations and World Peace Day.
• Encourage Lions to participate in activities such as an international stamp exhibit or an international art exhibit.
• Work with the Lions international peace poster contest chairperson.
• Work with youth exchange chairpersons concerning the Lions international youth exchange and youth camp program or other Lions-sponsored international youth programs.
