In 1972, the United Nations General Assembly created the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). In the same year, June 5 was declared World Environment Day.

Also in 1972, Lions made a commitment to the planet. 

Since then, Lions have donated their time and talent toward organizing local environment projects.
