The mission statement of the Lions Community and Cultural Activities Program is:

To cultivate the human qualities and values that stimulate individual creativity, enliven the community, and animate the human spirit.

The district governor appoints a Lion to serve as district community and cultural activities chairperson.

This chairperson should be familiar with:

• the Adopted Service Programs of Lions Clubs International (IAD-223)
• board policy as it pertains to the Community and Cultural Activities Program;
• the Community and Cultural Activities Club Guide (IAD72);
• the Culture Program PowerPoint (please allow a few minutes for the PowerPoint to load);
• suggested culture projects;
• the responsibilities of serving as a district community and culture chairperson;
• the criteria for earning the Lions Club Community and Cultural Activity Banner Patch Award;

Chairpersons should also be aware of:

Before developing a project, chairpersons should:  

• Evaluate community needs.
• Partner with local organizations.
• Determine the best project for the community.
• Outline a plan. Include procedures and costs involved in implementing the project. Submit the plan for approval.
