GUIDE DOGS INTO THAILAND
Service dogs trained to provide assistance can be admitted into Thailand by presenting an Animal Health Certificate for disability assistance dogs and application for special permit upon arrival of the dog. The animal will be exempt from quarantine, provided it is free of all restrictions imposed by the government authority. Rabies is prevalent in Thailand and you must have your pet vaccinated against rabies not less than 21 days prior to exportation. Additionally, before departure:
- Refer to the Thailand Department of Livestock Development website: www.dld.go.th/dcontrol/move/imex_e.html. Complete Application Form No. 1/1 and e-mail it to: dcontrol8@dld.go.th - at least 15 days in advance.
Wait for "The Import Permit & Conditions" and send it to the veterinarian who will prepare your dog's Health Certification.
Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, take the dog and the dog's health certificate to the "Airport Animal Quarantines Station" and complete Forms 6 and 7, received at the station.
A fee of 100 Thai baht (approximately US$3) will be charged for an "Import License" to present to Customs officials before proceeding to your transportation.
Please be sure to consult your veterinarian, airline carrier, and the Thai Embassy in your area to ensure that the animal will comply with all requirements. Detailed information is also available at: www.dld.go.th/dcontrol/move/condition.html.
