William B. Watkins, Sr.
William B. Watkins, Sr. from Loudon, Tennessee, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 90th International Convention, held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, July 2-6, 2007.
Director Watkins is a retired Air Force Officer and a retired university professor.
A member of the Loudon Lions Club since 1986, Director Watkins has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chairperson, zone chairperson and district governor. He is a founding and current board member of Tennessee Lions Charities, member and past president of the East Tennessee Lions Eye Bank, first vice president of Lions Volunteer Blind Industries and a Guiding Lion. In the past he has served as a presenter and speaker at several Lions functions.
In recognition of his service to the association, Director Watkins has received numerous awards, including Club Lion of the Year and Club Lion of the Decade, numerous district and multiple district Certificates of Appreciation, six International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, the International President’s Leadership Medal and a Guiding Lion Award. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Watkins is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a life member and past district commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member and past district commander of the American Legion, life member of Disabled American Veterans, and member of the Air Force Association and the Military Officers Association of America.
Director Watkins and his wife, Nora, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have three children and seven grandchildren.
