Debra Wasserman
Debra Wasserman, from Faribault, Minnesota, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 91st International Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23-27, 2008.
Director Wasserman is a retired school social worker.
A member of the Faribault Lions Club since 1992, Director Wasserman has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson, vice district governor and district governor. She has also served as a leadership development chairperson.
In recognition of her service to the association, Director Wasserman has received numerous awards, including the Club President award, the University of Minnesota Lions Eye Bank Helen Keller Award, the International President’s certificate of appreciation and the International President’s Award. She is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to her Lions activities, Director Wasserman has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind Foundation board of directors, the Minnesota Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped advisory board and the Association of Rehabilitation and Education.
Director Wasserman and her husband, Steven, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have a daughter and three grandchildren.
