Hayri Ülgen PhD.
Hayri Ülgen, from Istanbul, Turkey, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 91st International Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23-27, 2008.
Director Ülgen is a professor of Strategic Management at the University of Istanbul.
A member of the Istanbul Burgazada Lions Club and a Lion since 1977, Director Ülgen has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson, vice district governor and district governor. He has also served as a Lions Institute chairperson.
In recognition of his service to the association, Director Ülgen has received numerous awards, including a club president award, the District Governor Appreciation Award, the International President Leadership Medal and four International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Ülgen has been active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the International Academy of Management, the Society of Advanced Management and National Academic Organizations and the Turkish Olympic Committee.
Director Ülgen and his wife, Selva, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children.
