Georges Placet
Georges Placet from Ludes, France, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 90th International Convention, held in Chicago, Illinois, USA, July 2-6, 2007.
Director Placet is a retired pharmacist and general manager of pharmaceutical laboratories.
A member of the Epernay Marne Lions Club since 1973, Director Placet has held many offices within the association, including club president, zone chairperson, region chairperson, district governor and council chairperson. Additionally he has served as LCI representative at UNICEF in Geneva, member of numerous committees, Credentials Committee vice president, and president of the French Lions Clubs Foundation and of the “Vacation in Fresh Air” Lions of France organization.
In recognition of his service to the association, Director Placet has received numerous awards, including several medals, plaques, International President’s Awards and International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Placet is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a member of the Pharmacy Faculty Management Council. In the past he served as a member of the Science Faculty Management Council, vice president of the Pharmacists Union for 31 years and charter president of 15 associations.
Director Placet and his wife, Annick, have two children and four grandchildren.
