Jan-Åke Åkerlund
Jan-Åke Åkerlund of Höllviken, Sweden, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, June 30-July 4, 2006.
Director Åkerlund is a retired managing director.
A member of the Malmö Malmöhus Lions Club and a Lion since 1971, Director Åkerlund has held many offices within the association, including club president, district governor and council chairperson.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the 100% Club President Award, 100% District Governor’s Award, Golden Lion Award, International President’s Award, four International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, three Extension Awards and the International President’s Commendation Award. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
Director Åkerlund and his wife, Karin, have four children and six grandchildren.
