Lions clubs can become involved by recruiting hearing care professionals and covering whatever costs the recipient cannot afford. The Lions AHAP hearing aids are available to all Lions hearing programs. Recipients must meet income qualifications to ensure that low-income people receive the hearing aids. Income eligibility guidelines are available from Lions AHAP.
Currently Lions AHAP is distributing two hearing aids manufactured by Rexton, Inc. in cooperation with participating Lions and hearing care professionals. The process begins with the Lions selecting the recipient, who is then tested by the hearing care professional. The Lions send an order for hearing aids to Lions AHAP. Lions AHAP ships the hearing aids the hearing care professional, who fits them on the recipient.
The Rexton hearing aids are available through Lions clubs and Lions hearing programs. Lions hearing programs are asked to use the form for ordering the hearing aids and to call or contact the program coordinator regarding the other criteria.
Lions AHAP assists Lions clubs wishing to distribute hearing aids. Contact Lions AHAP at LCIF for more information or to get involved in the program. This program is currently a pilot program only available in the U.S.
