Lions\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' Youth Day with UNICEF

For the first time ever, Lions' Youth Day with UNICEF will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at UNICEF House in New York City.

The event, for young people who are under age 18 and sponsored by a Lions club, will occur concurrent to the 31st Annual Lions Day with the UN program at UN Headquarters in New York City.

Young people can gather at 9 a.m. at the globe sculpture inside the gates of the UN Headquarters compound on First Avenue at 46th Street in New York City. Lions International President Al Brandel will greet the young people before Lions escort the group across the street to UNICEF House.

Once inside the UNICEF House conference room, District Governor Kimberly Stribing will facilitate the following: 

  • Lions-UNICEF School-in-a-Box program - Past International Director Bob Klein
  • Model UN program - United Nations Association of the USA (UNA/USA)
  • UNICEF Water Walks program - Kate Weber of the US Fund for UNICEF 
  • Lions International Youth Camp and Youth Exchange Program - former youth exchangee, Nick Tremaroli
  • Leo Club Program - former Leo of the Year, Rachel Costello
  • Review of 2007 Lions Symposium for Youth - Lion Adina Calendar 
  • Lions International Peace Poster Contest winner
  • inclusion in the first Lions Quilt of Peace.

At the end of the day, Lions will escort Lions' Youth Day with UNICEF attendees back to UN Headquarters to be reunited with their Lions group.
