Each year, the LCIF Chairperson sponsors a fundraising cruise for the Foundation.

In addition to excellent entertainment, gourmet dining and exciting ports of call, the cruise is an opportunity for fellowship with Lions from around the world and for Lions to exchange ideas. The cruise is also a chance to spread the word about Lions to those who may not know about Lions or be familiar with LCIF.

There are many cruises out there, but the LCIF Cruise is unique in that Lions have the opportunity to tour with local Lions in the ports of call and exchange pins and banners. This is a wonderful example of the truly international nature of our organization and is a rare opportunity to make new friends with Lions from around the world. There are also onboard Lions cocktail and gala parties.

Cruisers not only enjoy a first-rate vacation but also contribute to the mission of LCIF and Lions clubs. In addition to the cruise cost, a US$1,000 donation per cabin for a Melvin Jones Fellowship is required. A special onboard award ceremony and luncheon honor new and Progressive Fellows. The 2006 Mediterranean cruise raised $28,000 for LCIF. In August 2007, 77 Lions and supporters headed to "The Great Land" of Alaska for a 12-day cruise and tour through Alaska.   
 
Every dollar donated to LCIF goes to support humanitarian grant projects. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is truly the backbone of the Foundation, providing 70 percent of the funding. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is exactly that- a fellowship of people joined together for a common cause. The Fellowship is a recognition for a high level of support of humanitarian service. It is the highest level of recognition available to Lions, and it is an elite group of dedicated individuals.

The Annual LCIF Cruise has been guiding Lions and friends to international destinations since 2000. The 9th Annual LCIF Cruise will set sail November 9, 2008 for 12 nights in the southern Caribbean. All of the exciting cruises are open to the public and US$1,000 of every cruise is tax deductible.
