Individual Awards and Recognitions

Melvin Jones Fellowship
LCIF’s highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) recognizes a person’s commitment to humanitarian service. An MJF is presented to those who give US$1,000 to LCIF or to a person for whom a donation was made by others. Melvin Jones Fellows receive a lapel pin and a plaque. Their name also is entered on a computer database accessible to visitors at International Headquarters.

Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowships
The Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship (PMJF) program recognizes people who donate US$1,000 or more or in whose name a donation was made beyond the initial Melvin Jones Fellowship of US$1,000. A Melvin Jones Fellow who donates US$1,000 receives a one-diamond yellow gold lapel pin.

Humanitarian Partners
Part of the MJF program, the Humanitarian Partner program honors individuals whose cumulative donations exceed US$100,000, $200,000, $350,000 and $500,000, respectively. Recipients receive an elegant bronze, silver, gold or platinum pin, respectively. Names of partners also are inscribed on the Humanitarian Partner Wall at international headquarters.

Contributing Memberships
The Contributing Membership program is an annual program that recognizes three levels of support: US$20, US$50 and US$100. For US$20, donors receive a lapel pin. For US$50, donors receive a pin and a silver wreath. For US$100, donors receive a pin and a gold wreath. The color of the pin changes every year.

Honor Roll
The LCIF Honor Roll recognizes individuals who donate US$100 to LCIF or in whose name a donation was made by others. Recipients receive an Honor Roll certificate and their names are added to the Honor Roll at International Headquarters.

Friend of Humanity Award
The LCIF Friend of Humanity Award recognizes very select Lions, no more than 50 each year, who have provided exceptional and longstanding service to LCIF. The award is for Lions who have generated significant financial support of LCIF or helped increase the foundation’s stature and identity.

Recipients may be nominated by any Lion or may be nominated directly by the LCIF Chairperson or International President. The LCIF Chairperson reviews and approves the nominees prior to the award being presented by the International President, who may allow the LCIF Chairperson to present the award when appropriate.

Recipients will receive an attractive medal with a ribbon. An individual may receive the award just once.

LCIF Helping Hands Award
The LCIF Helping Hands Award recognizes Lions who promote greater awareness of and support for LCIF at the club, region, district or multiple district level. There is no limit on the number of awards to be issued annually and individuals can receive the award year after year. Recipients receive an annual pin.

To be eligible for the award, Lions must promote LCIF either by 1) making presentations on LCIF at Lions’ functions and meetings, 2) writing or placing at least one article on LCIF in local Lions newsletters or Web sites or 3) sending regular communications about LCIF to clubs via e-mails or mail.

Also eligible for the award are Lions who assist LCIF such as LCIF Chairpersons, grants administrators, project chairpersons, and exemplary volunteers for LCIF-funded projects.

Award recipients come to LCIF’s attention in three ways: 1) The LCIF Chairperson and International President may choose worthy individuals. 2) District governors and council chairpersons may nominate Lions by completing the nomination form. 3) Lions may nominate themselves by completing the nomination form and providing documentation of their communication efforts.

Memorial Donations
LCIF recognizes individuals who donate to LCIF in the memory of a another. The donor receives an acknowledgement card, and the family of the deceased receives a card informing them of the donation. Also, memorial brochures (in English and French only) can be provided to the family of the deceased to place in funeral homes and other locations.

Club Awards

Club Plaque
The club plaque recognizes Lions clubs that donate US$1,000 or more to LCIF. If requested, the club can receive a banner patch and chevron instead of the plaque.

MJF Banner Patch
Clubs receive a Melvin Jones Fellow banner patch and chevron the first time a member is honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship. The club receives a chevron in subsequent years the first time a member is honored with an MJF.

100% MJF Banner
Clubs receive a 100% Melvin Jones Fellowship award banner when all current club members are Melvin Jones Fellows. Also, the LCIF Chairperson awards the club a Certificate of Distinction at the international convention.

100% PMJF Banner Patch
Clubs receive a diamond-shaped banner patch when all current members reach the first level of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Progressive program. Clubs receive diamond patches when all members reach new levels of the Progressive program. Also, the LCIF Chairperson awards the club a Certificate of Distinction at the international convention.

100% Contributing Member Banner Patch
Clubs receive a 100% Member Support banner patch and chevron the first time every member becomes a Contributing Member. Clubs receive a chevron for each subsequent year they achieve 100% Contributing Memberships.

District Awards

Certificate of Appreciation
Districts in which every club donates to LCIF in a fiscal year receive a certificate of appreciation. The District Governor and LCIF District Chairperson also receive a 100% Club Support Certificate of Appreciation.

Top Ten Certificate
The 10 districts worldwide that donate the most to LCIF in a fiscal year receive a Top Ten Certificate. The LCIF District Chairperson also receives a certificate.

100% Support Certificate
Districts in which every member (based on year-end membership) donates US$20 or more in a fiscal year receive a 100% District Member Support Certificate.

Chairperson’s Challenge
District Governors and LCIF District Chairpersons who meet the annual donation criteria of the LCIF Chairperson are given an award determined by the LCIF Chairperson.

Corporate Awards

Humanitarian Partners
Corporations that donate more than US$100,000 are recognized as humanitarian partners. Names of partners are inscribed on the Humanitarian Partner Wall at international headquarters.

Corporate Plaque
Corporations that donate US$1,000 or more to LCIF receive a corporate plaque.
