Approximately 13,000 members of Lions Clubs International
and their families will meet in Detroit, Michigan, USA/Windsor,
Ontario, Canada for the association's 87th International Convention
from Monday, July 5, through Friday, July 9. Convention events
will be held at the Cobo Conference & Exhibition Center,
Joe Louis Arena and other locations.
Highlights include a Parade of Nations, presentation of the
prestigious Lions Humanitarian Award and three plenary sessions
during which Lions clubs members representing more than 46,000
clubs in 193 countries and geographic areas will convene to
set the future direction for the world's largest service club
organization. Coretta Scott King, widow of Reverend Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr., will address the convention attendees.
Access to convention events will be granted to media with
an official Lions Clubs International Convention Media Pass,
which can be obtained by contacting the Public Relations Department
at Lions Clubs International in advance or by visiting the
Public Relations area of the Headquarters Booth at the Cobo
Convention & Exhibition Center.
