The objective of the Lions ALERT Program is to develop a plan of action in case of a:

Level One emergency (affecting a few people)

Level Two emergency (affecting a community)

Level Three emergency (affecting hundreds or thousands of people in a region).

The emergency may be a natural disaster, a man-made disaster, or a public healthcare crisis such as a large-scale (pandemic) influenza (flu) outbreak.

In July 2007, The International Association of Lions Clubs agreed to help the US Department of Health and Human Services disseminiate information about preparing for pandemic flu. www.pandemicflu.gov/takethelead/

To learn about pandemic flu, log onto: www.pandemicflu.gov.

To develop a Lions ALERT plan, appoint a Lions ALERT chairperson who will assemble a team of volunteers and emergency service professionals.
