JUNICHI TAKATA
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Junichi Takata, from Toyama, Japan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8, 2011.
Director Takata is the president of a corporation.
A member of the Toyama Showa Lions Club since 1984, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, 25th Club Anniversary Committee chair, district youth exchange chair, region chair, district governor, multiple district long range planning committee chair, council chairperson and multiple district supervisory auditor. He also served as GMT area leader and DGE seminar group leader.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including four International President’s Awards. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Takata is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He currently serves as president of the Toyama Prefectural Koshi Shien School Committee, eye bank board member, Toyama Prefecture Invention Association board member, Toyama Chamber of Commerce member, Toyama Economy Alumni Association secretary and vice president of both The Small and Medium Enterprise Group and the Plastic Industry Society. In the past, he was a member of a Toyama Summary Court mediation committee, head of the Training Institute and board member of the Japan Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Hokuriku Shinetsu District for the Japan Chamber of Commerce.
Director Takata and his wife, Kazuko, have five children and four grandchildren.
