INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR

Tsugumichi Hata, from Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8, 2011.

Director Hata is a representative director of a company and an accountant.

A charter member of the Sendai Core Lions Club since 2003 and a Lion since 1976, he has held many offices within the association, including club president, region chair, cabinet secretary, district governor, multiple district MERL coordinator.

In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including a District Governor Award, a Council Chairperson Award, four International President’s Awards, two International President’s Leadership Medals, three International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, the Key of State and the International President’s Extension Award. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

In addition to his Lions activities, Director Hata is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Tohoku University Graduate School New Venture Society, the Japan Venture Society and the NPO Intellectual Assets Creation Center Corporation.

Director Hata and his wife, Shizuko, also a Lion and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have three children and one grandchild.
