JOAQUIM CARDOSO BORRALHO
INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
Joaquim Cardoso Borralho, from Portugal, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 94th International Convention, held in Seattle, Washington, USA, July 4 to July 8, 2011.
Director Borralho is an environmental engineer.
A member of the Oeiras-Tejo Lions Club since 1994, he has held many offices within the association, including founding club president, chairperson of his club’s membership committee, zone chair and district governor. He has also served several seminars and forums.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards including a Club Secretary Medal, a Club Treasurer Medal, Membership and Extension Certificates, the 100% Attendance Award, an International President’s Medal of Merit, the 100% District Governor Award, the International President’s Excellence Award, an Extension Award, a 25 Member Key Award, the Golden Lion and International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Director Borralho is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He currently serves as audit chairperson of the Marques de Pombal, vice president of the Environmental Technology Association and in the Order of Engineers for the Automobile Club of Lisbon, Portugal. In the past, he served as a Portuguese Army Officer.
Director Borralho and his wife, Maria Sam Pedro Marques Borralho, have two children and one grandchild.
